This movie was incredibly underwhelming. I was bored throughout the whole movie. The only funny part as when Emma ran into Ryan at a party dressed like an 80’s band member and requested a song. It’s obvious that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling aren’t exactly the best singers. I found the camera movement to be a bit choppy and irritating. There were a lot of long dance scenes that I thought were unnecessary.

I really didn’t appreciate the whitewashing of jazz music. I really wish that they would have gone into depth about where exactly jazz music originated from. Jazz music came from the African-American community. Why is there no mention of that? There was no mention of Louis Armstrong or any other black jazz musician. In this movie, you have a white man on a crusade to save and preserve jazz music. They tried to make it seem like the movie was diverse by casting John Legend and other black actors. But if you’re going to make a movie about jazz music, you have to pay respect to the African-American community.
