Cassandra Clare’s series, The Mortal Instruments, is a show on FreeForm named Shadowhunters. A few hours ago, it was announed that the show has been renewed for a second season. I will be honest, I do not like the show at all. It doesn’t go by the books at all. Before the show aired, I knew that there were going to some changes made little things. The changes that the network told the fans was that they were going to age up the characters to 18 instead of 16, which i was totally fine with. They also said that they were going to make Luke a cop instead of a bookstore owner. I thought that that change was weird, but in a way it kind of made sense as to when there were dead bodies appearing all over town, he would be on the case and would be one step ahead. These were the only changes that we were told. As I was watching the show, I realized that they had made A LOT of changes. When I heard that Shadowhunters was going to be made on abcFamily, now FreeForm, I was worried. When it comes to book to TV adaptations, abcFamily has a repution of throwing the book away and doing what they want with shows such as Pretty Little Liars.

Even though I don’t like the show, I watch it, hoping that it gets betters. But also because the Mortal Instruments is on of my favorite series and holds a special place in my heart. I’ll watch the series because maybe the series will improve such as the editing and the writing. I am in no way bashing the actors for the work in the show. I just dislike what the producers did to the show. Maybe, just maybe they will actually go by the books, but I don’t think that they will because they have royally fucked up the plot.

They’re making it seem like every supernatural being is after the Mortal Cup, when the only people who can actually use it are Shadowhunters. They COMPLETELY over sexualized Izzy. Since when did being a fierce and confident young woman translate into being turned into a sex object. It’s like the roles of Jace and Alec are reverse. Jace is showing emotion, while Alec doesn’t have any.

I really don’t like the show, but I will watch it when the second season airs.
