Goodreads Description: Young interior designer Ava O’Shea has an appointment for a first consultation at The Manor with the owner, Mr Jesse Ward. She is expecting nothing more than an overweight, cravat wearing, well-to-do countryman, and on arrival, nothing would suggest otherwise. How wrong could she be? This Man is devastatingly handsome, charming and confident. He is also a conceited, hedonistic playboy, who knows no boundaries. Ava desperately does not want to be attracted to him, but she can’t control the overwhelming affect he has on her. Every instinct is telling her to run, so she does, but Jesse Ward is not so willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her. She knows she is heading for heartbreak, but how can she run when he won’t let her?
This is one of THE WORST books that I’ve ever read in my life. Not to sound dramatic, but it’s true. The main character, Ava, is just downright dumb. Her relationship with Jesse is toxic and dangerous and abusive. He doesn’t hit her or anything, but there were a lot of moments when I was scared for Ava if she didn’t do what he wanted. Ava kept running away from Jesse for reasons that I don’t even know and she ran away from him 3 or so times and then Jesse would come banging on the front door like an angry maniac, yelling her name. When Jesse is upset, it’s scary. VERY SCARY. Whenever he goes to her house like a maniac, he justifies his actions by says “You drive me crazy.” That is not an excuse to act like an obsessive freak. I gave this book 1 out of 5 stars. I feel like I wasted my time reading this book. I’m pretty sure that I’m NOT going to continue this trilogy.
