“So it’s like Twilight?” A lot of people tend to ask me this question when I’m describing a book to them and they’ll even say it if there isn’t any relevance to Twilight or vampires in it. Don’t get me wrong, I like Twilight. Loved it in middle school. But Twilight has seemed to ruin a lot of things. For instance, if I say that I watch the show The Vampire Diaries, someone will say, “So it’s like Twilight?” just because they heard the word ‘vampire’. It happened a lot when I was reading the Vampire Academy series this year. It even happened when I was reading The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. There are aliens in that series. Aliens. Not vampires. It even happened when I was explaining City of Bones By Cassandra Clare to a friend. I said the word ‘vampire’ and they said,”So it’s like Twilight?”. It was absolutely infuriating. If you’re going to compare something to something else, at least be original and let it be in the same vicinity. Don’t compare Twilight to Star Trek or Star Wars to Lost. They’ don’t even compare.
